Craft-Art Introduces Two New Wood Species for Countertops, Butcher Blocks
ATLANTA, GA, January 25, 2011…Craft-Art, Inc., manufacturer of custom-built wood islands, countertops and butcher blocks sold exclusively through its network of kitchen and bath distributors, has added two new wood species to its line of product choices: Rustic Walnut and Bubinga.
Responding to current design trends, Craft-Art has added a “knottier” version of Black Walnut to its product line. Called Rustic Walnut, the heartwood is a rich dark brown. It generally features a straight grain but can occasionally have a wavy or curly grain. This wood comes primarily from the Midwestern U.S. Suggested retail price starts at $65 per square foot.
Also new is Bubinga, also known as African Rosewood. Bubinga is a design favorite that Craft-Art is bringing back due to consumer demand. Bubinga is a very dense, medium red-brown wood with lighter red to sometimes vivid purple veining. The grain can be straight or interlocked. Suggested retail price is $95 per square foot.
Both new products are available with a choice of Craft-Art’s original Crosslinked Tung Oil finish or its new Food Safe Penetrating Oil finish. Homeowners who like their wood countertops to have a slightly glossy, satin appearance similar to fine furniture will usually choose the Crosslinked Tung Oil finish, while those who want to use their countertop as a cutting board or chopping block will choose the Food Safe Penetrating Oil finish which has a matte finish.
