Special Information: These woods came from medium to large pickling vats at Oxford Foods, located in South Deerfield, MA. The vats were most likely made in the 1930's-1940's. They were used to make cure pickles and to pickle peppers and other vegetables. The wood comes from the bottoms of the vats. Glue was not used in the manufacture of any food use vat. Each slat of a vat bottom was drilled horizontally and the staves were held together using threaded rod. In some of the countertops, there will be a plug on the side of the top where we have plugged the holes.
